...going to Franklin, TN for 'SISiversary' (Scrap in Style TV). Going to scrap, gab, take photos, eat, shop, and have a blast!!! I leave this Friday...early! Rooming with Nan and hanging w/ Nan and Martha and everyone else!!! I am so excited to finally meet these gals in real life. It's going to be a fun-filled weekend and I'm bring home lots of photos.
...and we wound up taking James to the Emergency Room this morning! Egads!
James was cutting the wood laminate flooring and stopped the table saw, lifted the saftey hatch and didn't noticed that the blades hadn't quite stopped running...yet. His right thumb got lacerated and I heard him yell; "CRAP!"...he came into the house holding his bloody thumb and patiently said; "We need to go to the emergency room now." After a quick rinse and gauze taped tight to help stop the bleeding, we went zooming to the hospital. They took xrays, since it was close to the bone, but it was going to just need half his nail cut off and several stiches. He lost a good chunk of skin on the backside of his thumb though. He was a trooper. I was a bit shaken, but worried about how pale he got. He winced in pain from the needles of novacaine going into his thumb, but soon he couldn't feel the stitches and finally relaxed.
So...we are back home. I took him to Domo for a sushi lunch, then picked up his Vicodin. James is showering and off of 'floor duty' for a bit. I told him to relax, that the floors will still be here next weekend. He is so ancy and wants to finish, but he's going to have to wait until his thumb heals. Stiches come out next Friday...until then, he is to wash it 3-4 times a day and keep an eye on it.....and put up with all the THUMB jokes we can muster up!
(I think we need to rent these movies this weekend, don't you?)
btw...Lacerated -stitched up thumb photos later...he has to leave the bandage on for 24 hours first.
.and a long one at that. In between, installing the washer & dryer to the garage and a plethora of other chores...I think James has managed pretty well thus far (with not a single complaint). It's funny...this man is happy when he's doing 'Manly Work'...even if his back aches every night.
Of course, 'Miss Carsey' and Yoda and even the kitties are inquiring about when the noise will stop and when they can play on said floors? Anticipation....
I took this shot one day whilst hanging out at the boardwalk in Va Beach (back in December), but it reminded me of how my life is going in all different directions right now....from going back to church (a good thing), to Porter's health and education and more discoveries (scarey, yet a good thing in the long run), to changes in our home (always a good thing)...lots of directions.
The real 'good thing' is...
I know where I'm headed.
